Here's my challenge to my baseball writing, internet-based brethren: open it up a little. Over and over, I see the same interviewees, guys who are heroes or at the very least accessible. Geoff Young has a nice interview with Rob Neyer over at Ducksnorts, but how many times do we see Neyer, Keith Law, or similar interviewed? Yes, accessibility has a lot to do with it, but I'm going to challenge everyone to find someone who doesn't share their views and have an interview. See if you can help bridge the gap.

I'm not expecting many takers so ... surprise me. I've got to go try and schedule something with Jay Mariotti.

Over at MetsGeek, we've been aiming to run a couple of interviews a month (you were one, Will -- thanks!). While some of the interviews are with the usual crowd, we have tried to diversify the lineup a bit this year.

During the offseason we ran interviews with beat reporters from teams around the NL East. I can say accessibility has a lot to do with it. We really didn't know much about the guys who cover the other teams with a couple exceptions, and most were very accommodating, some surprisingly so. Others (I won't name names) made themselves far less accessible, met our honest inquiries with rudeness right from the start, and left us hanging without responses.

I would suggest Jacques Doucet, longtime francophone radio play-by-play voice of the Montreal Expos.

Today, May 27, marks the 40th anniversary of Montreal being awarded a MLB franchise.

George Thorogood, Marty Noble & Howie Rose have participated in the Met-Lovin Big Shot series at my site (mbtn.net) this year. None of the 10,000 other Met blogs got them yet I don't think.
