No, not really.

This is probably better for a wiki, but since we know we have readers here from every team, let's see if we can get a full rundown of who's who in your team's possible BPR guests. Name your team, who you've heard (or haven't heard), and what you know of them briefly. Let's stick to a couple categories: Front Office (GM, AGM, Scouting Director, equivalents), Field Staff (Manager, Pitching Coach, etc), Broadcasters (TV and radio), player. If you're going to name a player, they'd better be exceptional and not cliche machines. I'm talking Eric Byrnes level good-on-radioness.

Here's an example:

Chicago Cubs
GM Jim Hendry - hesitant to do media, but straightforward
Dir Scout Tim Wilken - new to the org, TB and TOR pedigree. No media experience.
Mgr Dusty Baker - controlling, holds his kid in front of him for protection.
P/C Larry Rothschild - smart but never says anything. Always equivocates
Be/C Chris Speier - future manager, interesting perspectives.
TV PBP Len Kasper - young, enthusiastic, saber-conscious.
TV Ana Bob Brenly - very old school, bad at returning calls.
R PBP Pat Hughes - smooth delivery, carries a broadcast, but seldom insightful.
R Ana Ron Santo - HoF caliber player, unrepentant homer with heart on sleeve.
1B Derrek Lee - speaks Japanese, very calm and consistent.
SP Mark Prior - funny, surfer-esque. Never says more than five words at once.

Now it's your turn. Take a couple minutes and let's build something interesting.

1.   The Cheat
Let me try the White Sox...

GM -- Kenny Williams -- Rarely speaks at length to media, but is truthful, concise, and deliberate with his answers.
Asst GM -- Rick Hahn -- Vanilla. went to the school of cliched sound-bytes.
MGR -- Ozzie Guillen -- Honest to a fault, unfiltered.
P/C -- Don Cooper -- Georgian accent. Will talk your ear off. long-winded.
H/C -- Greg Walker -- uh, speaks, uh, around, uh, pauses.
Old R.PBP -- John Rooney -- One of the best in the game, informative and interesting.
New R.PBP -- Ed Farmer -- Former pitcher, from Cali, and he'll let you know both. Dry, caustic wit.
New R.Ana -- Chris Singleton -- Pass.
TV PBP -- Hawk Harrelson -- Southern good ol' boy. Homer.
TV Ana -- Darrin Jackson -- Brutal in the booth at first. Has become merely average, easily ignorable. Doesn't challenge Hawk, at all.
1B -- Paul Konerko -- Team spokesman. Need a quote? See Konerko.
SP -- Mark Buehrle -- Speaks for the team's pitchers. Fun if you get him off the subject of baseball.
C -- AJ Pierzynski -- If Pauly's busy, see AJ.
SP -- Jon Garland -- Defensive, standoffish.
CF -- Aaron Rowand -- Most fun when talking about the Chicago Bears.
CF -- Brian Anderson -- haven't heard much, but he should be fun. Jokester.
CL -- Bobby Jenks -- He, you know, didn't, you know, graduate, high school, you know.

Pravda.com (MLB.com) makes it easy to come up with extensive lists...

SF Giants

Front Office: http://tinyurl.com/bf89k
(Sabean does radio interviews, but he's got a decided lack of on-air charisma. He comes off as gruff and curt. Larry Baer and Peter Magowan are much more polished in front of cameras and microphones.)

Coaches/Staff: http://tinyurl.com/at3d8
(Felipe Alou seems to speak slowly and in a measured tone at all times. This could be partly because English is his second language, but even with the languid pace, he is extremely articulate and emotive with his words. Will occasionally say things just to say them, as when he suggested he might try batting Bonds second. None of the other coaches, even Dave Righetti, seem to speak at all in public.)

Broadcasters: http://tinyurl.com/cp3h6
(Dave Flemming is the youngest MLB announcer, and he's also been filling in for Tom Tolbert[!] as co-host in KNBR's afternoon drive slot. Duane Kuiper is an ex-player who does the PBP like he was born to do it. Krukow can get carried away with talking about kids in the stands, but even though he makes no bones about rooting for his favorites, he is unflinchingly honest about explaining when someone is screwing up or setting themselves up for failure. All of them, Flemming, Jon Miller, Kuiper, and Krukow, are extremely passionate and dynamic on air. Krukow and Kuiper also appear regularly on the KNBR morning show for Giants talk, so they're very used to being interviewed. Also, in the past couple years, it's been something of an obsession among Giants fans to make sure we catch The Wrap, a wide-ranging discussion of the game carried out on the radio by the four broadcasters after the game's conclusion.)

Players
SP - Jason Schmidt is the resident prankster.
RP - Steve Kline has a reputation for loquaciousness.

At the risk of muscling in on Ken Arneson's turf, here's how I'd break down the....

Oakland Athletics
GM Billy Beane -- Hasn't really said anything of sustained interest in public since Michael Lewis was skulking around the office with a notepad.

Asst. GM David Forst -- Handles the "speaking to the media" portion of the gig when Beane finds it distasteful. Spoke at a BP event before a game in Oakland a couple of years back and answers questions pretty directly.

Dir. of Scouting Eric Kubota -- Never heard him speak before. But it might be interesting to hear from an A's official about scouting, since everyone assumes they use droids and old UNIVAC mainframes to observe players.

Special Asst. to GM Matt Keough -- Former player, and apparently plays a pretty pivotal role in the player-evaluation process, things like whether to draft Huston Street or keep Rich Harden as a starter.

Mgr Ken Macha -- Error! Error! Kill all humans! (On the plus side, if you can coax Macha to saying anything interesting over the airwaves, you may be in line for a broadcasting award.)

3B/C Ron Washington -- Had a weekly segment on the A's postgame show last year which was pretty entertaining.

Radio PBP Ken Korach -- Also spoke at that same BP event and gave a pretty good talk about the ups and downs of baseball play-by-play announcers.

Players -- The most quotable one, Scott Hatteberg, left town. Nick Swisher is young enough and brash enough not to have morphed into a cliche-spouting automaton, so he might be an interesting interview. Milton Bradley could be a fascinating interview, though I'm not as familiar with him, what on account of him being new to the team and all. Barry Zito is mildly entertaining, but cliches are cliches even in they're said in surfer's brogue.

Another note or two on the A's:

I've spoken to Eric Kubota via telephone for a freelance journalism gig I was doing. He was on a scouting trip (!!) in the stands at some ballpark somewhere, but took a couple of minutes to answer my questions. Seems like a nice guy.

Also have been privy to interviews (although I was not conducting them) with Ray Fosse and Rich Harden. Fosse, the former catcher and Pete Rose tackling dummy, and current tv and radio analyst is extremely loquacious. One question can net you a half hour answer. Harden is young enough that while he does spit cliches, he takes your questions seriously and at least thinks a bit before he answers.

5.   Zachary D Manprin
OAKLAND ATHLETICS (Will, if you can book them, kick some leftovers down to me)

Front Office (executive asst)- Betty Shinoda - Can be referred to as the 'Gate Keeper'. She's been with the A's for years and is the voice between Billy Beane and the rest of the baseball world. Ask how many of the Billy Beane stories are true and how many of them are exaggerations.

Front Office (Special Asst to GM)- Matt Keough - Going through a very dramatic change of life following a drunk driving accident, arrest and rehab. A's have stood by him.

Front Office (Dir of Baseball Admin)- Pam Pitts - A female in administration the Goodest Ol' Boy club of the Good Ol' Boy clubs.

Front Office (Baseball Ops Coordinator) - Bryn Alderson - Sandy's son. Lots of stories form the past the present and a look to the future.

Med Staff (Strength and Conditioning Coordinator) - Clarence Cockrell - A good insight to what the A's do and have done with players (particularly pitchers). Especially poignant with the BALCO situation.

Ticket Sales - Adam Clar - Drums up business, tries to keep season tickets holders...How would you like to be the guy who has to handle calls about the A's closing the 3rd deck and doing away with the $2 weekday tickets?

Stadium Operations - Dave Rinetti - Surely this guy has stories to tell form the last few years. Also has a good insight to the complexity of ownership and administration of a stadium with so many hands involved.

Stadium Operations - Clay Wood - Possibly three best groundskeeper in baseball (go the Giants groundskeeper his job). Still blamed for the A.J. Pierzynski triple that 2nd baseman Mark Ellis dove for in the 2002 ALDS.

Comm & Broadcasting (Vice President) - Ken Pries - Has to deal with the loss of a legend, Bill King, and manage possibly the worst TV booth in baseball; Ray Fosse, Glen Kuiper, Tim Roye and postgame radio with Robert Baun...three homers and a guy with nothing on base.

Minor League Players - Eddie Cornejo, Benny Winslow and Jed Morris - Got bored in the season and made a movie, not acted as extras, MADE a movie. 'Dreamrevolver' is an entrant at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival.

Minor League Player - Matt Watson, seriously. Talk baseball with this guy. Then talk family. He's a professional baseball player, his brother is a lawyer and his mom is a schoolteacher. A centered guy who has a career in broadcasting ahead of him if he pursues it.

Major League Player - Kirk Saarloos, a less 'Barry Zito' Barry Zito.

Major League Player - Joe Blanton, don't talk baseball, talk food and his dogs.

Formerly of the A's organization - Danny McCormack, Nike. Used to be in the A's front office. Great guy. Just curious how long the A's gag order lasts.

Formerly of the A's organization - Gary Huckabay. Similar to above. See if Gary can even say he worked for the A's. A string of no-comments would be hilarious.

Formerly of the A's organization - Paul DePodesta. Talk about anything but baseball.

Formerly of the A's organization - Dave Stewart. Should be an icon for the city of Oakland. Got a do-over in his career. Developed the split-finger and had four consecutive 20 win seasons. Integral in the community the instant the Bay Area earthquake hit in 1989. Pitching coach, asst GM and now agent (Eric Chavez' agent). Some have made claims of racism to keep him from a GM position. Not so sure it's not just a glass ceiling because of the manager/GM merry-go-round.

6.   Suffering Bruin
Los Angeles Dodgers
As flowers change in Spring, so does the Dodger personnel. That makes this a tough task but here goes. Some of these are from personal experience from days gone by (Scully, Lasorda, Collins) and one comment is based on a conversation from last Spring (McCourt). Without further ado...

Chairman/Owner Frank McCourt - Great conversationalist, answers questions directly and maybe, just maybe, you can believe what he says.

Vice Chairman and President Jamie McCourt - I don't know anyone who knows her. LA Times readers can say the same thing, I think.

GM Ned Colletti - Currently enjoying a honeymoon from the L.A. media who are still drunk from the champagne party they had when DePodesta was fired.

Assistant GM Kim Ng - Shouldn't we have a nickname for Ng? The Sole Survivor, or something? The only guy I know who interviewed her came away very impressed.

SA to Chairman Tom Lasorda - You all know he'll talk your ear off. What's less known is that he's the most intense competitor ever to wear a Dodger uniform. That ain't necessarily a compliment.

Dir Player Dvpmt Terry Collins - Has a reputation for being mercurial but appears anything but. I guess he's a far different guy when he's the skipper.

Dir Scout Logan White - For a guy who gets great press, particularly on the 'Net for his drafts, we don't know much about him and nobody seems eager to ask much about him.

Mgr Grady Little - Another newbie to the organization if not to everyone else. The few interviews we've seen suggest a guy filled with self-deprecating, down-homey good time stories. He appears to have recovered from his Martinez decision beautifully. I have high hopes for him.

TV PBP Vin Scully - Much, much more opinionated than most give him credit for. Yes, he's an organizational guy but off-mike and sometimes even on-mike, he can be blunt.

TV PBP Charley Steiner - Like Ross Porter before him, a super-duper nice guy that gets to suffer in comparison to Scully. I like him a great deal and people I know who know him say he's personally as good as it gets. Just a great guy.

R PBP-ANA/TV ANA Rick Monday - As PBP he has no business being behind a microphone. He's pretty good at the ANA, though. Another genuinely good guy to talk to in an organization filled with them.

R Al Downing - Very tough to figure. People who know him say he's terribly bright about the game but it doesn't come through in the work. Not that he sounds dumb, just very restrained and not all that interested; kind of like Joe Morgan without the head-scratching commentary. 2005 was his first season so we'll see.

Players: From what I hear, not a fun interview in the bunch. Gagne is the closest thing we have to a media darling which ain't saying much. They're all either too new to the organization to know, not all that exciting to talk to begin with (see Drew, J.D.) or just forbidding enough to make you think twice before asking (see Kent, Jeff). One guy I know said the worst thing about the LoDuca trade was that the team lost it's chatty characters: LoDuca and Dave Roberts led a crew who just loved to stop by and say hello. After the trade and the moves from Spring '05, that all went away. I had hopes for Derek Lowe but since his personal issues, he's been less than forthcoming of late.
