Bobby Abreu hits 24 home runs, including several over 450 feet.

Dear Barry:

We're sorry. We'll lay off.

Your pal,

The Media.

And if anyone was wondering, apparantly there was some guy named Hee Seop Choi who hit a few out during the all-important Reggie Jackson and Joe Morgan Good Ole Days time.

My wife, during that sequence, said "I never knew it would be so much fun to listen to someone (Morgan) kiss his own ass. Oh, wait, it's not." Joe, you know, didn't play in but 10 ASG's.

Snarky comments aside ...

I hope that Bobby Abreu now gets some of the credit that he deserves.

You know, I've always said that Bobby Abreu could hit 76 homers if he wanted to, but he cares more about helping his team by hitting .300.

The above would be the media line if Bobby were a celebrated Japanese ballplayer with an exclamation point in his name.

There is a reason I passed on Beltran and took Abreu with the 7th pick of my $$$ league's draft this year.

I second Blah's comment ...

Would the effects of steroids really show up much in the results of a home run derby?

I mean, the guys are getting meatballs served up to them in their kitchen (or is it wheelhouse), by their own personal chefs. BAM!

And I'm just about over the whole idea of a home run derby anyway. I'd like to see target hitting, or something more wacky.
