Doesnt Houston kind of do that with Roger Clemens? I thought when he initally signed they put in the contract stating something about him starting the majority of his starts at home so he could be near his family?
Well I've hashed out a ridiculous system that would really mess with the rhythm of the other 4 pitchers, but it would enable Brazelton to start only at home:
[four-man rotation]
5/2 yankees
5/6 twins [switch to five-man]
5/11 white sox
[start falls on off-day 5/16, switch to four-man rotation with #2 starting on 5/17]
5/25 a's [return to five-man]
5/29 mariners
[four-man rotation through 6/12, sufficient rest possible]
6/13 brewers [return to five-man]
6/19 cardinals
6/24 marlins
6/29 blue jays
[switch to four-man after 7/4]
7/9 tigers [return to five-man]
[switch to four-man on 7/17]
7/22 orioles [return to five-man]
7/27 red sox
[start falls on off-day 8/1, switch to four-man]
8/15 yankees [return to five-man]
8/21 rangers
8/25 indians
[#2 starts on 8/31, switching to four-man]
9/9 blue jays [return to five-man]
9/15 yankees
9/20 red sox
[start falls on off-day 9/26]
10/1 orioles
Plus it would only give him 19 more starts this season. Though if he could go, say, 12-5 over that span (i know, i know), it would probably be worth it.
