Creepy and Old

Want to feel creepy and old?

Today's way-too-late, what-are-we-still-doing-this-for announcement about JonBenet Ramsey made me wonder just how long ago that happened. It was 1996 when the six-year-old was murdered.

Simple math. She'd have been 18 next month.

That's almost as creepy as John Ramsey meeting the mother of another famous dead girl, Natallee Holloway, at a fund raiser and beginning to date her. They met DAYS after his wife died of cancer.

Phew. When I read your title, I was afraid you might be writing a post about me.

More seriously: I work in an inner-city neighborhood, and stories like this really piss me off. I wonder how many poor 6-year-old girls have died in the last 12 years without much of anyone taking any notice? What's the big deal with this one?

1 To answer your question, damn few six year old girls who live in multi-million dollar neighborhoods are strangled in their houses---that's the angle. Throw in wacky parents and the creepy beauty queen shit...

As the father of three young (YOUNG) daughters, anyone killed that young is a tragedy, but as you said yourself, in some places it's not that unusual.
