President Obama
2008-11-04 18:53
by Will Carroll

With the call of New Mexico for Obama, it's over. With the currently called states and near certainties in California, Washington, and Hawaii, Barack Hussein Obama has crossed 270. Theoretically, and stranger things have happened.

Congratulations, President Obama. Now, deliver.

When Democrats win, Republicans don't cry. They don't shut down comments on their blogs. They don't make cartoon maps of "Infanticide Land" or "Socialism Land" that show the blue states as such and the red states as the USA. They congratulate the winners and then look in the mirror for the post-mortem instead of casting aspersions on the "ignorance" of the electorate, how they "voted against their interests," etc.

But when Republicans win, well...you know...

So savor the moment. Congrats. And the next time your side loses, remember how your side was treated after this election was over. And see if your side is capable of such a response.

No, last time Republicans won, I had a stalker threaten to kill me over my views that shut down my blogging.

3 4 Your memory sucks. Pull up the NYT from Nov. 2004. Compare that to what you see from the conservative press today.

Of course both 2000 and 2004 were disputed elections with suggestions of fraud that led to Bush victories. That Obama crushed McCain helps temper the reaction of the right (of course that many, many conservatives thought that Palin was a joke and an insult helped too).

I'm guessing that if Obama won because of a court ruling the conservative response would be much less accommodating. Of course considering the kind, gentile and honorable campaign that McPalin ran, the reaction would probably have been very mild ;).
