Elsewhere in Gotham City ...
2006-02-04 15:09
While I've been kind of slacking on this front, there's other writing out there from me: * The Team Health Reports are about to start this week at BP. * There's some good stuff coming up at "The Year of Living Chemically," including interviews with some experts and the reason why I won't be doing Pilates, despite Ryan Klesko's endorsement. * I wrote an article for Mind and Muscle and participated in the latest "Council of the Gods." (I may be arrogant, but I so don't deserve that title nor do I belong in that company. Some seriously smart people in there and well worth reading.) * I have an article in the Rotowire Baseball Preview magazine that a lot of you will be interested in reading, especially my critics. It's called "Confessions of a Rumor Mongerer" and is available in print and for Rotowire subscribers. * Super Bowl XL? Seattle in a close game.

About the Toaster
Baseball Toaster runs on some experimental software called Fairpole. It's still under development. For more information, please visit the Fairpole blog, or read the FAQ. |
Today is day 8 for me on the South Beach Diet (recommended by my doctor because of high triglycerides). This is phase 1 of the diet, which lasts for 2 weeks and is very low on carbs. The book says that phase 1 is to "get rid of cravings." But I'm not sure this is working yet, since I'm jonesing for a peanut butter sandwich. (Goddamnit, I love carbs!)
But anyway, enough kvetching. During this week, I've also walked on the treadmill twice. The scale says I lost 6.4 lbs in the first week, bringing me down to 177.4. At 6 feet tall, that's not too far from where I want to be. I figure if I can lose half again as much weight during week 2, I'll be in range. Early April is my next scheduled time with the doc to see how it affects my blood sugar, cholesterol, etc.
Looking forward to the future updates from Will.
